Dreaming of a fountain in your garden? Nothing could be easier with Japanese inspired fountains.
For a feeling of well-being and rest, invent a little Japanese corner and start making a bamboo fountain.
The Shisho doshi fountain
Because the sound of water gently trickling and splashing is soothing, the Japanese invented the bamboo fountain. Called Shisho doshi, this fountain is used as a scarecrow in its country of origin, thanks to its tilting cane and its characteristic “tac-tac”. The principle is as follows: a water game with a large bamboo that fills up little by little until it tips over. Inside and outside, it is like a natural parenthesis. In small garden ponds, these fountains also have a practical function: they help oxygenate the water in the pond thanks to the water runoff they cause on the surface.
How to use it
To make this Japanese-inspired fountain yourself, you have two options: the simplest is to install two hollow bamboo pipes, resting on top of each other, to be placed above a small pond. This fountain is then connected to a small water pump. The bamboo allows the basin to be filled drop by drop. Second solution: kits, at Truffaut, for example. The major retailers offer bamboo made with durable polyester resin. They are resistant to cracking, lightweight and easy to transport. Finally, they are resistant to cold. Each water spitter comes with an adapter for different hoses to make the transition to various hose sizes easier. It’s done!
